PLATO is a framework for identification of partonimic relation between the entities of the LOD cloud. It was developed particularly for entities of Linked Open Data. Moving beyond using owl:SameAs and identifying richer relationships such as partonimic relationship in LOD are needed to enable the answering of complex questions and to support more intelligent applications.

PLATO uses partonomy classification created by Winston[1] to guide its approach. Winston created a categorization of part-whole relations which identies and covers part-whole relations from a number of domains such as artifacts, geographical entities, food and liquids. It is recognized as one of the most comprehensive categorizations of partonomic relationships. Based on that PLATO mine the web to automatically detect part-of relationships between entities.

The software components and evaluation components will be online by November 17th,2011. Please check back again.
