More than 25 million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with asthma, out of which 7 million are children [1]. Asthma related healthcare costs alone are around $50 billion a year [2]. Current reactive healthcare costs more than 17% of GDP in the US [63, 136]. It is estimated that, by 2025, over 400 million people will be affected by asthma worldwide.
